Loans for People with Bad Credit
If you have filed for bankruptcy, been consistently late on payments, or have committed other financial transgressions, chances are you will be seen as a poor credit risk. This could make it very difficult to obtain credit for anything including a home, car or to obtain a debt consolidation loan to regain control of your life.
However, it still can be done but you will probably have to pay higher than normal interest rates. There is no getting around that fact.
Actions You Can Take To Obtain a Loan
However, there still may be some actions you could try to if you want to obtain a personal loan to consolidate some debt:
- Financial Advisor: You might want to make your case with a financial advisor. A competent loan professional will be able to help you repair your credit rating. Who knows, you might be able to find a contact through the advisor who will take a chance and give you a prime instead of sub-prime loan.
Talking with a loan officer means someone who will personally handle your case.
- Private Lenders: You might be able to find a private lender who will help you by extending a personal loan with a rational repayment scheme.
- Sub-Prime Lender: You can secure a loan from a sub-prime lender. Look for a loan where the first payment can be deferred for two months and a loan that provides a long term payment option. The problem with a sub-prime lender is that while they accommodate individuals with poor credit, it comes with a price. The price is in the interest rates. You might pay over 25% to borrow the money. This may put you in a hole even worse than the one that you are in.
- Co-Signer: You might be able to obtain a loan if you can get someone to co-sign with you. Remember, that person immediately becomes just as responsible for the loan as you are. Plus, to make it work, the co-signer should have very good credit and a good income. This is not a relationship to go into lightly for you or the co-signer. If it goes sour, you might have a relationship problem along with a financial one.
If you receive a loan while having bad credit make sure you service properly to avoid further damage to your credit history. Make the loan work for you.
